Dr Klara Valko is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, a member of the Society of Cosmetic Scientists, and an Associate Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. Over a distinguished 40-year career in pharmaceutical research, she has published more than 100 peer-reviewed scientific papers and books in the field of drug discovery and biomimetic science.

As an Honorary Professor at University College London’s School of Pharmacy, Klara continues to teach and mentor the next generation of scientists while remaining actively engaged in research and innovation.

Klara Skincare was born from her desire to translate advanced pharmaceutical science into effective skincare for mature skin. Through her company, Bio-Mimetic Chromatography Ltd, she developed a biomimetic delivery technology designed to model how molecules interact with biological membranes. This scientific expertise led to the development of phospholipid-based micelle systems that support the delivery of collagen peptides and other active ingredients closer to the skin cells.

After more than 40 years in pharmaceutical research and drug discovery, I founded Bio-Mimetic Cosmetics to translate advanced scientific knowledge into effective, natural skincare for mature skin.

During my career, I specialised in understanding how molecules interact with biological membranes. I developed a biomimetic delivery technology designed to transport large, hydrophilic active molecules — such as collagen peptides — through the skin barrier to where they are most needed. As we age, collagen production declines and the skin’s regenerative capacity slows. My goal was to apply proven scientific principles to support the skin’s natural renewal processes.

Bio-Mimetic Cosmetics is built on one central idea: effective skincare must combine nature with delivery science. Our formulations use phospholipid micelles inspired by cell membranes to help deliver active peptides, antioxidants, and hydrating compounds closer to the skin cells. The result is targeted support for mature skin experiencing fine lines, loss of elasticity, and uneven tone.
