Our founder is Dr Klara Valko a fellow member of the Royal Society of Chemistry, member of the Society of Cosmetic Scientists and an associate member of Royal Pharmaceutical Society.  Klara has published over 100 peer-reviewed scientific papers and books.

When she’s not developing the highest quality skincare products, Klara teaches as an honorary professor at the University College of London’s School of Pharmacy.

It was Klara who developed our innovative technology through Bio-mimetic Chromatography Ltd, the parent company of Klara Skincare.  Klara also developed the processes by which we formulate our products.

Many products on the market focus on having the right anti-ageing ingredients to improve elasticity and fight the effects of wrinkles.  But what good are these ingredients if they can’t get to the parts of the skin that matter?

At Klara Skincare, we do things differently.  By focusing on the way ingredients are absorbed into the skin, as well as the ingredients themselves, we make sure anti-ageing effects are delivered directly to where they are needed most.  Let’s break that down further...

As we age, we lose hyaluronic acid and collagen from the skin.  Therefore, to fight the effects of ageing, we need to provide the skin with these active ingredients.  This helps to restore moisture and elasticity to the skin.

Many existing skincare products use collagen and hyaluronic acid.  But they use larger molecules to deliver these ingredients to the skin tissue.  These molecules do not absorb as well and this means the active ingredients do not penetrate deep enough into the skin tissue.   Instead they stay on the surface of the skin, and as a result, you lose most of the benefit.

We use a different technology to deliver active ingredients into the skin. Based on 22 years of pharmacological research, our team of leading bio-chemists have developed a technology that uses phospholipid micelles.  These micelles are much smaller and this means that they absorb deeper into the skin.  Delivering the maximum benefit of the active anti-wrinkle ingredients.

The origins of Klara Skincare lies in decades of research for drug delivery methods to help patients with conditions such as Motor Neurones disease.

It was through testing various mechanisms for administering drugs through the skin that we found a way to capture active ingredients into tiny packages called micelles.

The inspiration for our innovative approach, actually came from nature itself.  We were fascinated by the human body’s ability to rapidly absorb nutrients from food.  Inspired, we sought to replicate these processes on the skin.

This approach proved highly successful.  Excited, we started exploring other uses for this technology and turned our attention towards fighting the effects of ageing.

Our products are powerful, and we are passionate about them.  Therefore we take great care to formulate them in the right way.  Our team of biochemists hand-craft our products in our UK based laboratories not a mass market production line.
