Most frequent questions and answers

Our creams are developed for normal and combination skin types. The night cream is more oily as it contains additional oily substances such as Shea butter and Coconut oil. Therefore we suggest using the day creams at night for women with an oily skin type. Use Klara’s micellar water regularly as it cleans the pores and removes the excess oil without triggering more oil production.

Our creams have an excellent moisturising effect. The natural wax components will form a thin layer after the absorption of the nutrients that locks in the moisture. For younger, dry and sensitive skin types, the Vegan version of the day cream and night creams are probably more beneficial.

Depending on your age, we suggest using the day and night creams together with the serum. For younger and more nourished skin, we recommend the vegan version of the day and night creams.   For more mature skin, the more powerful and rich day and night creams containing 4 % collagen peptides are the best choices.

We recommend the vegan version of the day and night creams for sensitive skin with rosacea. These creams contain an avocado extract that is known to help with these skin conditions.

For mature skin, we recommend the rich Klara’s anti-wrinkle day and night creams. They contain high concentrations of the two major components of the skin that we lose with ageing.

The 4% hydrolysed collagen peptides, the vitamins and antioxidants, as well as the moisture-locking hyaluronic acid, will provide full and well-balanced nourishment of your skin.

Keeping a regular skin care routine with Klara’s skincare range, cleanser/toner, serum and day and night creams will not only slow down the appearance of the signs of ageing but will restore the skin to its younger looking form. These effects of slowing the ageing process and accelerating skin cell regeneration are long lasting.

It is time to start the regular skincare routine when we reach the age of 35. It may be even too late!

It is always easier to prevent the appearance of wrinkles than curing them at a later stage. We recommend the Vegan version of Klara’s anti-wrinkle cream range in small quantities depending on the moisture content of your skin.

You can also use a few drops of the serum under the eyes after thorough cleansing. The eye cream (under development) will also help to prevent the appearance of wrinkles for the younger generation. Before using makeup, the Vegan day cream is highly recommended as it protects the skin from potentially harmful synthetic materials.

Yes,  but avoid applying creams directly into the eye area. We have made all precautions to avoid any eye irritant ingredients in our products, they should not cause eye irritation.

Our creams are designed to be applied to the surrounding area of the eyes. This is the most sensitive area of the face, and this is where the signs of skin ageing are most noticeable. If you develop bags under your eyes, it is essential to apply both the day and the night creams by gently massaging to help circulation and reduce water build-up.

The serum contains active ingredients in a concentrated form in a water-based solution without oily components. It contains the micelles and penetration enhancer of polar vitamins, the apple stem cell extract and the palmitoyl peptides which have good skin penetration properties.

It is essential to apply the serum right after the cleanser/toner. Please wait until it fully absorbs and drys and then add the moisturiser creams.  In this way, you will lock-in the concentrated polar active components that will initiate the cell regeneration process before adding the hydrolysed collagen products that provide the building blocks for the regeneration.

Micelles are molecular associations of phospholipid molecules that are the constituents of the cell membrane. The associated molecules have increased permeability through the cell membrane. They are smaller than liposomes that are often applied in cosmetics. Liposomes are bigger droplets encapsulating the water-soluble active ingredients.

To achieve the micelle formation, we need to dissolve the phospholipids in water and using high energy procedure; we associate the polar molecules on the surface of the micelles. When the micelles are formed, the milky solutions become transparent, indicating the extremely small size of the molecular association.

Similar micelles can be found in the intestine that helps the absorption of the important nutrients that otherwise cannot penetrate through the intestinal wall. It is well known that large polar molecules are not able to cross cell membranes. The peptides and hyaluronic acid are such molecules, so we need to use special formulation technology to get them absorbed and permeable.

Hyaluronic acid can absorb large amounts of water, and it acts as a lubricant in joints. 80% of the hyaluronic acid in our body can be found in the skin, and this is what we also lose with ageing, so we have to replenish it. This is what they inject during the more aggressive cosmetic surgeries. It is much more pleasant to apply it using Klara’s day and night creams.

Niacinamide is the latest star in cosmetic skincare products. It is also known as vitamin B3 and nicotinamide. It is a water-soluble vitamin that works with the natural substances in your skin to help visibly minimise enlarged pores, tighten loose pores, improve uneven skin tone. It softens fine lines and wrinkles, diminishes dullness, and strengthens weakened skin surfaces.

Niacinamide has been shown to reduce inflammation in moderate acne just as well as stronger, prescription-only treatments, and research has shown it can limit the overproduction of sebum in oily skin types.

There are many clinical benefits of niacinamide, including reducing skin redness, improving sallowness, and lightening hyperpigmentation.

Niacinamide also reduces sebum production and pore size, making it an excellent choice for women with oily skin who desire rejuvenation. Niacinamide increases collagen and glycosaminoglycan production, boosting dermal matrix components that can smooth wrinkles.

Our skin contains high concentrations of vitamin C, which stimulates collagen synthesis and assists in antioxidant protection against UV-induced photodamage that accelerates the appearance of the signs of ageing.

Another major benefit of Vitamin C is that it renews the skin’s surface. It boosts the production of substances that keep skin looking firm, helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

We use 4% of vitamin C in Klara’s serum and the micellar water. We also use the more stable sodium phosphate derivative that also reduces the acidity of vitamin C.

There are several skin-brightening active components on our skincare products. Vitamin C and Niacinamide are known to reduce dark circles and also fade age spots and other hyperpigmentations in the skin.

Our products do not contain an extremely high concentration of these ingredients to avoid any unwanted side effects. Therefore, their effect is not that dramatic. However, regular use of the products containing vitamin C and niacinamide will visibly reduce the age spots and dark circles around the eyes.

Our creams are not designed to have immediate dramatic anti-wrinkle effects which are usually temporary and only masking the wrinkles on the skin surface.

We aim to nourish and rejuvenate the skin using the active ingredients that we lose by ageing. We want to provide precursors for the skin cell regeneration and activities that slow down the ageing process. Therefore, do not expect an overnight effect. However, the improvements that are visible after 3 to 6 weeks of regular applications are long lasting and will bring back your natural younger-looking skin.

Yes, of course. After applying the serum and the day cream one can apply makeup. Most foundation products blend well with the protective thin wax layer formed from our daily moisturiser creams. Always wait until Klara’s anti-wrinkle creams are fully absorbed before applying the makeup. It may take 20 to 30 min.

Our creams contain special ingredients that are not commonly in other cosmetic skincare products. These are the hydrolysed collagen peptides in phospholipid micelles.

When you apply the creams, these ingredients form a white layer, like a mask on the skin surface.  Within 5 to 10 min, this layer will disappear as the micelles visibly absorb into the skin. You can accelerate the absorption by gently tapping and massaging the creams.

Regularly massaging your skin also helps improve skin elasticity and strengthens the expression of your facial muscles. While the cream absorbs, you can feel your skin becoming firmer, and more hydrating and fine lines will be filled.

We try to avoid any synthetic ingredients and silicon polymers (Dimetichon, Carbomer).  We only use natural or naturally derived ingredients. Sometimes a small synthetic modification of the natural substances is advantageous to increase the shelf life or enhance skin penetration. Thus we use a vitamin C derivative or derivatives (esters) from naturally occurring fatty acids and alcohols. In some of the products, we use fragrance oil instead of the essential oil to avoid the high level of allergens that may be present in the natural essential oils.

We aim to develop formulae which are closest to the natural skin ingredients and that have been used for hundreds of years with great success, such as sweet almond oil, coconut oil, emu oil, grape seed oil and raspberry seed oil.

The safety assessment of our products is carried out by Oxford Biosciences Ltd with years of experience and knowledge of the safety of cosmetic ingredients. Our products also comply with European standard regulations.

Some of the well known active ingredients can perform only when they absorb into the deeper layers of the skin and even permeate the skin cell wall. Without deep absorption, these ingredients only cover the skin surface and may have some temporary visual effect, without actually affecting the skin ageing process.

We aim to have a more profound and long-lasting effect. Improving the skin cell regeneration process and slowing down the natural ageing process as much as possible by protecting the skin from radicals by using vitamins and antioxidants.

Matrixyl 3000 is one of the synthetically modified nature-derived ingredients containing palmitoyl peptides. By forming an ester bond between the peptides and the naturally occurring palmitic acid, the polar peptide molecules become non-polar and are able to penetrate through the cell membrane.

Inside the cells these bonds are broken, and the peptides can fulfil their rejuvenating and cell regenerating activities. This is another way to enhance the skin absorption of the active components besides attaching them to phospholipid micelles.

KlaraNail nail nourishing oil contains extremely powerful ingredients to fight against the fungal infections of the nails (onychomycosis). This is the most stubborn and widespread nail fungal disease.

Prevention is the best approach to avoid nail fungus. The essential oils in KlaraNail contain high concentrations of cineol, pinene, limonene and terpene, which are reputed to have several medicinal properties including antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. These ingredients penetrate deeply into the cuticles and nails, ensuring maximum efficiency.

Massaging the oil into the toenails helps protect the nail from peeling, cracking and breaking. A total of 20 patients from Walkwell Clinic in Stevenage and Letchworth, Hertfordshire volunteered to participate in the efficacy test of KlaraNail, and all showed significant improvements after five months of treatments.

Hard and cracked skin often develops on the feet, soles and heels. This can be very unpleasant, even painful when it cracks. A callus is an area of thickened skin that forms as a response to repeated friction, pressure, or irritation. Calluses are found upon one’s feet because of frequent walking and poorly fitting shoes—one of the options to fight against it to use softening moisturising creams.

KlaraSan collagen foot cream was developed in collaboration with Sangeeta Dhall who accidentally noticed that Klara’s collagen cream might help to fight against calluses too. Within three months, one patient’s feet were cleared from calluses.  Other observations from one of the users were that the KlaraSan collagen cream helped in psoriasis to soften the dry skin surface and reduce the redness. It is not surprising as these creams contain the essential natural nutrients of the skin. More than 30% of the creams are made of an old medical ointment used in eczema in the Hungarian Formulae Normale (meaning frequently used prescriptions).

Our KlaraSan Foot Spray Oil contains emu oil from Australia. It is known to have an extremely beneficial effect of skin cell regeneration. It has an anti-inflammatory effect and reduces pain in arthritis by massaging it into the joints. This dry oil spray transforms tired, dry feet to gorgeous well-hydrated feet. Feels very pleasant on the skin and absorbs quickly without leaving an oily residue.

Yes, definitely. The Lemon Myrtle essential oil is believed to have a stronger antifungal and antibacterial effect than Tea tree oil but with a much more pleasant citrus smell. By using this spray regularly, your feet will look great and smell good, and your toenails will look healthy too.

Yes, you can use KlaraNail oil not only for the toenails but between the toes where fungal infections often occur. However, do not use it on large skin surfaces because the very potent active ingredients may cause itchiness.
